EZULWINI – The stakes are rising as the FNB Eswatini Golf Challenge heads into its final stretch at Ezulwini Golf and Country Club, where 120 players have been battling it out since 5 August.
With one day left, anticipation is building not only among the players but also among local golf fans who have been following the action closely. Sponsored by FNB Eswatini, this year’s tournament has brought fresh energy to the local sporting calendar, marking a significant moment for both seasoned golfers and rising talents.
A local female participant, speaking after her round, reflected on what the tournament means for the country’s golfing community. “This is a game-changer, especially for us women,” she said. “Being part of such a big event gives us exposure and confidence. It shows that we belong on the big stage too.”
The tournament also served as a networking platform during the Pro-AM prize ceremony held earlier in the week. FNB Eswatini CEO Thokozani TK Dlamini described the event as more than just a golf competition. Speaking to guests, he said the gathering allowed professionals, clients, and partners to connect beyond business and sport.
Dlamini expressed gratitude to corporate partners such as Old Mutual, AD Enterprise, Orade Insurance, and Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) for their backing, saying their involvement helped elevate the quality and experience of the event.
This year’s winner will receive a newly introduced green master jacket, designed by local fashion designer Mzamenti Mpanza. The jacket, according to Dlamini, is expected to become a defining symbol of the tournament moving forward.
As FNB Eswatini marks its 30th anniversary, the CEO made it clear that the bank sees itself as part of the fabric of the country, telling attendees: “Sitintile Eswatini futsi siyindzawo.”
Attention now shifts to the course, where one golfer will walk away crowned champion and don the inaugural master jacket.
