LOZITHA – July 29, 2025 – His Majesty King Mswati III has received letters of credence from the incoming Japanese Ambassador to Eswatini, Shimizu Fumio, during a ceremony held at Lozitha Palace on Tuesday.
The King welcomed the ambassador to the kingdom and assured him of continued support from both the Monarchy and Government throughout his diplomatic mission.
Ambassador Fumio, presenting his credentials, extended greetings from His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and expressed Tokyo’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties. “Japan and Eswatini have established close and cordial relations since the establishment of our diplomatic relations in 1971,” he said.
He also spoke about Japan’s cooperation with Eswatini in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and food security, noting that support has come through various frameworks including grant and technical assistance.

Fumio confirmed that His Majesty King Mswati III will travel to Japan next month to attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD). “As Your Majesty is very aware, TICAD has a history of more than 30 years since it was established in 1993,” he said.
