MBABANE – A new United Nations-backed initiative is offering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Eswatini a chance to reduce electricity costs and scale their operations using clean energy solutions.
Launched under the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Fund, the joint programme is being implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Food Programme (WFP), coordinated by the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office.
Applications are now open for qualifying businesses to access support aimed at helping them adopt renewable energy technologies and contribute to the country’s shift toward a low-carbon economy.
The programme targets MSMEs that are registered in Eswatini, have standalone or commercial premises, and use energy in their production. Applicants must show an annual turnover between E6,000 and E3 million, maintain financial records, and present a reinvestment plan for savings generated through energy efficiency.
