LUDZIDZINI / KA-TEMBE – Princess Sibahle’s traditional wedding to Yassin Monteiro Nunes is unfolding as a grand display of cultural pride and unity between Eswatini and Mozambique.
The Umtsimba ceremony began on Thursday evening at the Ludzidzini Royal Residence, where His Majesty King Mswati III commissioned the bridal delegation, urging them to carry Eswatini’s honour with dignity.
The King shared his heartfelt wish to see all his daughters married, though he noted that such blessings rest in God’s hands. He described the occasion as a long-awaited moment of joy for the royal family, crediting divine grace and the legacy of past kings.
Addressing Princess Sibahle, the King advised her to embrace her new role with respect, which he said is a defining value of the royal household. “Once you get married, you must never think that you have an alternative of coming back here. You now belong to your husband and in-laws,” he said.
The royal bride, accompanied by her brothers and senior royals—Prince Sicalo, MP Prince Lindani, Defense Chief Prince Hlangabeza, and Minister Prince Lonkhokhela—arrived in Mozambique on Friday, where she formally requested Inkhonto from the Monteiro-Nunes family, symbolising her integration into her new home.
The celebrations continue this weekend at Ka-Tembe with a colourful blend of Eswatini and Mozambican customs, attracting dignitaries and traditional leaders from both sides of the border.
