MBABANE – Great Wall Motors (GWM) has added a new entry-level model to its popular P300 bakkie range, dropping the price point with the introduction of the LS variant, now available from R549,900.
The LS replaces the outgoing P-Series DLX as the new value offering in the lineup and is set to become the mid-range model once the lower SX trim returns before year-end. This brings the total number of local P300 variants to five.
The latest addition retains the core P300 styling but comes with fewer features compared to the top-spec LT and LTD grades. The LS rides on 18-inch alloys with a new design and drops several premium features such as the bonnet-view camera, auto high beam assist, electric sunroof, and leather seats. It also excludes advanced safety tech like Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keep Assist, and the 360-degree camera.
Standard features that remain include a 12.3-inch infotainment system, seven-inch digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a six-speaker sound system, roof rails, and a wireless phone charger.
Safety remains covered with six airbags, rear parking sensors, reverse camera, Driver Attention Alert, Collision Mitigation, Trailer Sway Control, and Electronic Stability Control.
Powering the LS is the new 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine, shared with the GWM Tank 300, producing 135kW and 480Nm. It’s mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox, with the choice of rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The 4×4 variant also comes with a rear diff-lock and can tow up to 3,500 kg.
Fuel economy is rated at 7.4L/100km for the 4×2 and 8L/100km for the 4×4. The LS is available in white, black, Pittsburgh Silver, Swarovski Blue and Mars Red, and includes a seven-year/200,000 km warranty and a seven-year/75,000 km service plan.
