MBABANE – A 45-year-old woman accused of staging an armed robbery in Goje Township, Ezulwini, has appeared before the Mbabane Magistrates Court to answer to charges involving property valued at over half a million Emalangeni.
Nonhlanhla Nonsikelelo Manana of Ngonini, Ezulwini, was arraigned this week in connection with a brazen incident that took place on February 20, 2023, in the Hhohho Region. According to court documents, Manana is accused of using a firearm to threaten a man identified as Wolf Peter Wolfgang before making off with valuables including a vehicle, electronics, jewellery, cash, and firearms.
The stolen property reportedly includes a white Toyota Land Cruiser SUV registered as PSD999BH and valued at E300 000, jewellery worth E20 000, two black Canon cameras estimated at E50 000, and an Apple laptop valued at E10 000. Also taken were an iPhone 13, a violin guitar, a Heckler and Koch pistol, 50 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a Bernedelli 9mm pistol, and E20 000 in cash. Foreign currencies also reported stolen include USD10 000, €20 000, and MZN40 000.
During proceedings, the court explained her right to legal representation, but Manana chose to represent herself. The prosecution indicated that the accused had previously been on the police’s most wanted list before her recent arrest. She is expected back in court on August 1, 2025.
Magistrate presiding over the matter advised that should the accused wish to apply for bail, the application must be filed at the High Court.
