Mbabane – Three teenagers accused of stealing goods from a retail shop in Mbabane were granted bail by the Mbabane Magistrate’s Court this week.
Lindokuhle Lukhele (19), Thandwayinkosi Dlamini (18), and Phathizwe Mabaso (18) appeared before Magistrate Sifiso Vilakati on charges of shoplifting and theft. According to court papers, the young men are accused of entering a local shop and stealing several items including mobile phone chargers, phone covers, a stapler, house and silver keys, E100 cash, and other small electronics.
Court records show that among the stolen goods were six black adapter chargers, a transparent phone cover, a navy blue phone cover with a red line, a pack of staplers, a multi-adapter charger, three black charging cables, a small type B charger, a silver and black phone cover, three white adapters, six packs of Rizla, volumes of GT magazines, and a house key.
During the proceedings, all three made bail applications and stated that they are Swazi citizens who had no reason to flee. The magistrate agreed to release them on bail of E1,500 each, warning them not to interfere with state witnesses or commit similar offences. The trial is scheduled to commence on 8 August 2025.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, 19-year-old Brady Mazibuko from Luve was sentenced after pleading guilty to theft and shoplifting charges. Mazibuko was arrested on 11 July for stealing grocery items worth E158 from a local store.
Court documents show the items recovered included Toppers, Turkish Delight, Cocoa Macadamia, white chocolate cappuccino, and Jacobs cappuccino. A store employee, Sandile Gwebu, confirmed the recovery of the stolen goods which were presented in court.
Mazibuko was fined E1,000 or faces 10 months imprisonment should he fail to pay.
