Matsapha – Mbabane Swallows have entered a new era with the appointment of Dário Monteiro as head coach on a two-year contract, with an option for renewal. The announcement, made at Sigwaca House, signals Swallows’ intent to return to the summit of Eswatini football.
Swallows Board of Governors’ representative, Welile Mabuza, expressed confidence in Monteiro’s experience and professionalism, praising his determination to deliver results. Monteiro, a former Mamelodi Sundowns striker, acknowledged the pressure of leading one of Eswatini’s most successful clubs, noting the high expectations from fans.
Monteiro pledged full commitment, emphasizing a focus on discipline, tactical awareness, and results. “I’m here to do the talking on the field,” he said, adding that while he respects the supporters, he wants them to judge him based on team performance.
Known for his tactical knowledge and calm demeanor, Monteiro brings with him trusted goalkeeper coach Daniel Matsau. Both are expected to inject fresh ideas into a squad seeking rejuvenation after recent underwhelming seasons.
Monteiro also acknowledged the passion and emotional investment of Swallows supporters, stating he’s prepared to match that intensity with hard work and professionalism.
