MBABANE – A major drug seizure, a spate of murder arrests, and several theft and fraud cases kept officers of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) busy between July 4 and July 9, 2025, according to a police brief issued this week.

In Nhlangano, a 33-year-old man from Mkhitsini was nabbed while driving a silver grey Toyota Hilux near Ndvungunye. Police found 210kg of dagga in his possession. He had no permit or license and now faces charges related to illegal possession of cannabis.

Still in the southern region, a 37-year-old man from Makhosini was arrested in connection with a murder that occurred at Vat Vat Bar in Ekuphumuleni No. 1 Township. The suspect allegedly used a beer bottle and repeatedly kicked the victim, a 33-year-old from Nyamane, leading to his death.

In the Lubombo region, a 61-year-old man from Makhewu is facing murder and firearm-related charges after allegedly shooting a 27-year-old man once in the chest on July 2. Police later recovered a pistol and two live rounds in his possession.
