MBABANE – A major drug seizure, a spate of murder arrests, and several theft and fraud cases kept officers of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) busy between July 4 and July 9, 2025, according to a police brief issued this week.
In Nhlangano, a 33-year-old man from Mkhitsini was nabbed while driving a silver grey Toyota Hilux near Ndvungunye. Police found 210kg of dagga in his possession. He had no permit or license and now faces charges related to illegal possession of cannabis.
Still in the southern region, a 37-year-old man from Makhosini was arrested in connection with a murder that occurred at Vat Vat Bar in Ekuphumuleni No. 1 Township. The suspect allegedly used a beer bottle and repeatedly kicked the victim, a 33-year-old from Nyamane, leading to his death.
In the Lubombo region, a 61-year-old man from Makhewu is facing murder and firearm-related charges after allegedly shooting a 27-year-old man once in the chest on July 2. Police later recovered a pistol and two live rounds in his possession.
A kidnapping incident in Mafutseni has also resulted in charges against three men aged 32, 45, and 28 from Ngwane Park, Luhlokohla, and Maphalaleni. The trio reportedly forced a 26-year-old man from Hhelehhele into the boot of a silver grey BMW at Salukazi.
In Mbabane, a fraudulent scheme involving forged till slips led to the arrest of two suspects, aged 33 and 27, from Dlangeni and Siphocosini respectively. The duo is accused of defrauding Build It Mbabane of stock valued at E345,077.03.
Also in Mbabane, a 21-year-old from Ka-Ncesi was arrested for allegedly killing a 34-year-old man from the same area with a 12-bore shotgun.
Over in Manzini, two 38-year-old men from Makholweni were arrested after a Mazda Demio worth E50,000 was reported stolen from Yesive Parking.
At Nhlambeni, Matsapha, three suspects aged between 24 and 28 from Nhlambeni, Logoba, and Mankayane were arrested for stealing a bull worth E23,000 from a kraal during the night.
