WINDHOEK – Eswatini’s flag flew high at the Regional 5 Youth Games in Namibia after Mkhuleko Nzima claimed the country’s first gold medal in the 100m Special Olympics race.
Nzima’s win not only gave the nation its first top podium finish at the 2025 edition but also added a silver to his name in the long jump, where he landed a distance of 4.26 metres.
His double-medal haul pushed Eswatini’s total to five medals—one gold, two silvers, and two bronzes—making Nzima the standout performer for the national team.
The athletics team wrapped up their events on Thursday without further additions to the medal count. Bandzile Simelane narrowly missed a podium spot, finishing fourth in the men’s 200m final.
