WINDHOEK – Eswatini’s medal tally at the Region 5 Games in Namibia has grown, thanks to Special Olympics athletes Bafundzile Dlamini and Shagon Muhammad, who earned bronze and silver respectively in the long jump.
Their podium finishes come on the heels of swimmer Hayley Hoye’s bronze medal in the 200m freestyle earlier this week, bringing some cheer to the national team following tough losses in football and netball.
The recent wins offer a morale boost after the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams were knocked out by Zambia and South Africa, and the netball team endured heavy defeats against Malawi and South Africa.
Judo and boxing events are on the schedule for today, with Team Eswatini hoping to add more medals to the count.
