Kruger National Park, South Africa – Visitors to the Kruger National Park have been reminded that the use of drones remains strictly prohibited, and anyone caught flying them will face immediate arrest and confiscation of their equipment.
South African National Parks (SANParks) issued the warning this week, citing the NEMA Protected Areas Act, which forbids any aircraft or unmanned aerial vehicle from flying below 2,500 feet above the park’s highest point without written permission from park authorities.
The restrictions apply regardless of whether the drone is used for recreational purposes or filming. SANParks says unauthorized aerial activity infringes on both protected airspace and their filming and photography policies.
Park authorities have raised concerns about the impact of drones on wildlife, with reports indicating that animals can be disturbed, stalked, or even harassed by these devices. The noise and movement of drones can also affect the overall visitor experience for tourists seeking a peaceful encounter with nature.
