MBABANE – Eswatini is mourning the death of His Royal Highness Prince Mabandla, the country’s third Prime Minister after independence and a senior member of the royal family.

The announcement of his passing was made by the Prime Minister, Russell Mmiso Dlamini, on Saturday, 29 June 2025. Prince Mabandla, a towering figure in the country’s post-independence political landscape, died after decades of public service to the Kingdom.

Born into royalty, Prince Mabandla served as Prime Minister during a formative period in the nation’s history, where he played a leading role in building government institutions and laying the groundwork for a modern state. His leadership was characterised by calm resolve and a deep sense of duty to the people.

He was not only a political figure but also a long-standing member of the King’s Advisory Council and a guardian of Swati culture and customs. Known for his humility and wisdom, Prince Mabandla remained a unifying force in both traditional and state matters.
