Police and army personnel, supported by residents of Eluhlendlweni, stopped an attempt to smuggle 14 stolen cattle across the Lundzi border early Thursday morning.
The livestock, valued at E140,000, was being moved by a group of unidentified suspects before they were intercepted during a joint operation involving the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), members of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force, and the local community.
Although the suspects managed to flee the scene, authorities say the intervention prevented a significant loss for the affected farmers.
Police have urged livestock owners to continue branding their animals to ensure easier identification in the event of theft or cross-border smuggling.
