Sikhuphe – His Majesty King Mswati III departed Eswatini on Tuesday morning, 24 June 2025, for a state visit to the Republic of Ghana. He was accompanied by Inkhosikati LaMagongo and a high-level delegation aboard a royal flight from King Mswati III International Airport around 8:00am.
The monarch’s five-day visit will include engagements with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, traditional authorities, and key institutions, with the aim of deepening diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
On arrival in Accra, the King is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Mahama and senior government officials. A Memorandum of Understanding is expected to be signed to advance cooperation between Eswatini and Ghana.
The state visit will also take the King to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat in Accra before he continues to Kumasi, where he will meet the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. While in Kumasi, His Majesty will visit the Manhyia Palace Museum, address the National House of Chiefs, and call on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
A grand durbar of chiefs is planned for Thursday at Manhyia Palace in the King’s honour. On Friday, he will tour the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and attend a royal banquet at the Otumfuo Jubilee Hall. His Majesty will wrap up the visit on Saturday by joining the Asantehene at a KNUST graduation ceremony before returning to Accra.
