MBABANE – Emaswati former gold miners and their families are being urged to come forward to claim compensation for lung damage, with the Tshiamiso Trust having already paid out nearly E100 million to eligible claimants. The Trust is actively seeking more beneficiaries who may be entitled to significant financial relief.

This vital opportunity is open to individuals or their families if they worked at specific gold mines in South Africa and subsequently developed permanent lung damage from silicosis or tuberculosis. Claimants can lodge a claim and undergo a Benefit Medical Examination (BME) through the Trust.

For those in the Hhohho region, services are available today, Friday, June 13, at Pigg’s Peak Government Hospital. Residents of the Lubombo region can access assistance with new claims and medical examinations at the Good Shepherd Hospital in Siteki on Monday, June 16, and Tuesday, June 17. Additionally, TEBA offices in Mbabane and Nhlangano remain open daily to assist with enquiries and processes.

This initiative provides a crucial avenue for justice and support for those who suffered health consequences from their past labour. The Tshiamiso Trust also issued a stern warning against scammers, emphasizing that no one can lodge a claim on another’s behalf, and there is no fee required for assistance. For more information, individuals can dial 00 27 10 500 6186 or follow @Tshiamiso Trust- Silicosis Settlement.
