Mbabane: Eswatini has recorded 3 more new confirmed cases. This takes the total number of cases to 59.

Two of the new cases are females and one male, all of them are from the Manzini region.

When announcing the new cases Minister of Health Lizzy Nkosi in a press conference held at the cabinet offices Sunday afternoon highlighted that on a survey conducted it has proven that most of the new cases comes from family to workplaces level. Nkosi urged EmaSwati to avoid public gatherings be it parties, traditional weddings or anything that will bring a lot of people together. She encouraged the nation to continue practicing social distancing.

Eswatini being the smallest landlocked country with a population ranging around a million, the soaring number of cases are a really threat. With the less funded health facilities the country is being threatened by the pandemic. Eswatini has only one official health Centre set for admitting COVID-19 patients and slowly but surely the Lubombo Referral hospital will be full to beam as more cases are inevitably expected to grow following the local government’s reckless action of relaxing the so called partial locked down in the past few days.

The soaring number of cases became a wake up call for the government as it then resolved to revise the lockdown regulations. With the number of new cases it seemed to late because a week was enough for the virus to take advantage and affect a lot of EmaSwati.

Upon announcing the results Minister Nkosi continued to urge the nation to stay at home observing all the given regulations which include social distancing, frequent washing of hands with running water and soap, wearing of musk when going out to most inhabited areas.

National Police Commissioner William Shongwe said police will pay more attention to Manzini as it has been proven that most of the cases originate from the Manzini region. A notable number of the cases are from the Manzini region making it the epicenter of the pandemic in the country. Manzini is known for being the busiest town in the country following that it is where most shopping centre’s are found and markets are the most common services for most people from all walks of life in the kingdom.
