16 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in one day, number stands at 56

Mbabane: The numbers of new confirmed COVID-19 cases are growing at an alarming rate

Eswatini has recorded 16 more COVID-19 positive cases, which has seen the number of cases jumping up to 56.

This is the biggest jump in new confirmed COVI-19 cases since the first case was reported in the country.

This was announced by the Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi on Saturday afternoon in a press statement.

The Minister of Health announced that the COVID-19 cases has grown up to 56.

Announcing results, the Minister of Health through the statement stated that the Ministry received 150 results of which 134 were negative and 16 come out positive, bringing the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 56.

Manzini continues to have the highest number of confirmed cases as it currently stands at 35 cases followed by Hhohho with 16 cases, while Libombo has 3 and Shiselweni with only 2 cases.

According to the minister of health, the increase in number of confirmed cases indicates that local transmission is becoming established in the country. Nkosi continues to request the public to adhere to the precautions that have been advised since the first Covid-19 case was detected.

According to the statement, contact tracing for the confirmed cases has begun. The statement further reveals that Eswatini has now 56 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 10 cases have been treated, 29 are still undergoing treatment and only one has died.

The Minister of Health said contact tracing has already stated for the confirmed case. She urged the public to adhere to the covid-19 regulations and take precautions as advised by the ministry and world health organization.

The Ministry continues to urge the public to wash their hands frequently with soap and running water or use hand sanitizer and to observe hand hygiene always, avoiding touching their faces, and avoiding close contact with (staying at least one meter away from) other people

When coughing or sneezing people are urged to cover to cover their mouth or preferably use a face mask.

 The public is also urged to cooperate with rapid response teams as they go about their duties of finding contacts of positive cases.

Breakdown of newly confirmed cases

Case #41 is a 57-year-old male

 Case #42 is a 37-year-old male

 Case #43 is a 35-year-old male

Case #44 is a 37-year-old male

It  should  be  noted  that  all  the  above  cases  are  contacts  of  the  same confirmed cases and all live in the Manzini region.

Case #45 is a 57-year-old female

Case #46 is a 42-year-old female

 Case #47 is a 52-year-old male

 Case #48 is a 50-year-old female

 Case #49 is a 48-year-old female

 Case #50 is a 27-year-old female

 Case #51 is a 39-year-old male

Case #52 is a 31-year-old female

All the above cases are from the Manzini Region.

Case #53 is a 48-year-old female

Case #54 is a 23-year-old female

Case #55 is a 23-year-old female

Case #56 is a six-year-old female

The above cases are contacts of a previously confirmed case and all live in the Manzini region.
