MALKERNS – Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star Doctor Khumalo will address men from across Eswatini at the Build Him, Men’s Symposium, scheduled for 28 June at Malandelas.
Khumalo, who now serves as a technical coach, will join other speakers in leading a conversation focused on men’s mental health. Organisers say the event is designed to create a safe and inclusive space for men to discuss personal struggles, emotional well-being, and the pressures they face in society. The programme will feature real-life stories of resilience and perseverance aimed at helping men feel seen, supported, and empowered.
The symposium takes place during Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, with organisers calling it a timely intervention amid rising concerns about suicide, depression, and the lack of open dialogue among men in Eswatini and the broader region.
Sisusa Dlamini, the driving force behind the symposium, said the choice of speakers was based on the different life experiences they bring to the table. “We wanted a line-up that reflects the many faces of manhood. Doctor Khumalo is from sport, Daladi is an entrepreneur, and Bongani is an academic. This way, we’re making sure that every man in the room can see himself in someone.”
Dlamini added that the symposium will also serve as a special birthday celebration for Khumalo, who turns 58 on 26 June. She said this was a meaningful way to honour his contribution not only to football but also to men’s development on and off the field.
