LUDZELUDZE – A local fashion designer and her partner have been crowned Best Dressed Couple 2025 at this year’s Makoti Festival, according to a report by Eswatini Positive News (EPN).
The announcement was made via the official Makoti Festival Facebook page following the event held on 26 April at the Malkerns Country Club. Nelly Luju Ndlovu from Ludzeludze and her partner, Nhlanhla Shongwe, impressed both the judges and attendees with their striking outfits.
Their win secured them a weekend getaway for two at Olive Country Lodge, a prize that recognises not only their style but also their creative coordination.
Ndlovu, a full-time fashion designer and mother of four, revealed in the EPN report that it took her just two hours to create her outfit, using fabric sourced from Shein. She also designed her partner’s top, while the trousers were purchased elsewhere. She estimates a similar outfit would cost E1 200, with men’s tops priced at E350.
Having started her career in 2008 as a machinist, Ndlovu eventually launched her own brand in 2016. She now manages her business from home, catering to clients in Eswatini and beyond, including Botswana, South Africa, and Taiwan.
“I’m a mother 24/7 aside from my work,” she shared. “But I’m now looking into getting a bigger space for my business.”
This marks the second title for the couple, who also won Couple of the Year at the Jumbo Festival in 2024.
Ndlovu thanked her supporters, clients, and followers for voting, noting that participating in the Makoti Festival for the second time was a rewarding experience.
