MATSAPHA – Local water company Emlembe Mountain Spring Water has injected E10,000 into the women’s boxing tournament set to take place during the 2025 edition of the Eswatini Biggest Braai.
The announcement was made on Wednesday during an official handover ceremony at Emlembe’s Matsapha headquarters. The funds will go directly to support the boxing competition, which is one of the key attractions of the charity-driven event scheduled for July 26 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre.
Philani Maswati Charity Organization, the organisers of the annual braai, received the donation with gratitude. The women’s boxing tournament will feature fighters from all four regions of the country, with the overall winner walking away with a E7,000 cash prize.
Jordan Lavendale, Director at Emlembe, described the sponsorship as part of a long-term vision to support community initiatives and create sustainable partnerships. He said the company is excited to help elevate women’s boxing and contribute meaningfully to the event.
Fellow director Paula Marques said the company is committed to promoting youth and women’s empowerment through sports. She noted that Emlembe has previously supported initiatives in soccer and is proud to now extend that support to boxing.
Philani Maswati Chairman Lutfo Dlamini thanked the company for aligning with a cause that promotes both fitness and social upliftment. He also acknowledged Wayne Lavendale, Jordan’s father, for his ongoing contributions to development efforts in Eswatini.
This year’s event has attracted major sponsorships. Robertsons Spices leads the pack with E500,000, followed by Embiveni Meats at E350,000. Eswatini Mobile has pledged 11 smartphones and a cashless payment platform. Betting firm eBet donated E35,000, and a couple from outside the country contributed £100,000.
