The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, in partnership with the Municipal Council of Manzini, has launched the 14th edition of the KwaMagogo Legacy Run, set to take place on 9 August 2025. The announcement was made earlier today during a briefing held at the Council Chambers in Manzini.
Minister Appolo Maphalala described the annual run as a symbol of Eswatini’s journey through history, health, and urban development. He said the event is not just a race, but a powerful expression of national identity and a shared commitment to the future of Eswatini’s cities.

The KwaMagogo Legacy Run honours House Number 43 in Trelawney Park, a former refuge for liberation fighters that now stands as a historic landmark. The event draws on this heritage to connect communities with their urban past while promoting a healthier and more inclusive future.
“The run captures the spirit of His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision for a resilient and people-focused Eswatini,” Minister Maphalala told attendees. “It brings together themes of health, heritage and hope in a way that strengthens our sense of community.”
Organised in collaboration with the KwaMagogo No.43 Foundation, the event has become a fixture in Eswatini’s cultural calendar, tying together local pride and the ongoing transformation of urban spaces.
According to the Ministry, the Legacy Run plays a key role in advancing the goals of the National Urban Development Plan. These include promoting physical wellness, boosting social unity, and creating more livable, economically active cities.
By drawing participants from across the country, the event also aims to boost tourism and celebrate the evolving role of cities in shaping both identity and opportunity in Eswatini.
