Over 150 residents of Sigcineni in Eswatini’s Manzini Region received free health screenings this week, as the Taiwan Technical Mission rolled out its latest community outreach initiative under the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Project.
The outreach took place at the Sigcineni Clinic, where 159 people were screened for blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and Body Mass Index (BMI). The effort is part of a growing collaboration between Taiwan and Eswatini to improve healthcare access, particularly in rural communities where chronic illnesses often go undetected.
Members of Parliament Thandeka Mavuso and Mgucisi Dlamini joined the event to show their support and encouraged residents to prioritize routine check-ups for early detection and management of conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
The project is also making strides in modernizing health systems, introducing digital tablets for real-time data entry. This digital upgrade is intended to enhance accuracy and efficiency in patient recordkeeping—marking a step forward in Eswatini’s journey toward healthcare digitalization.
The NCD Project is spearheaded by the Taiwan Technical Mission with backing from the Taiwanese Embassy in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
