The temporary freeze is seen by Eswatini officials as an opportunity to reassess trade dynamics in a rapidly shifting global market. The Ministry has opened discussions with the United States Embassy in Mbabane and plans to liaise with the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to ensure Eswatini’s trade interests are represented as Washington reviews its tariff policies.
Commerce Minister Manqoba Khumalo urged local exporters and the broader private sector to stay informed and participate in the unfolding trade developments. He reaffirmed Eswatini’s commitment to protecting its economic interests while remaining open to regional and international cooperation.
