A two-roomed house was officially handed over to 43-year-old Nomphumelelo Sithole today, a mother of three who has been visually impaired since she was 13. The Deputy Prime Minister, Thulisile Dladla, led the ceremony in the Ndzangu community under Mpolonjeni Inkhundla.
Nomphumelelo, who was forced to drop out of school due to glaucoma, shared her struggles with the DPM, including the difficulty of securing a stable home for herself and her children. She expressed immense gratitude to the community, especially the youth, who volunteered to help with the building of the house without any compensation.
Mpolonjeni MP Kwanele Ndzimandze also praised the local support for the project, along with the quick response from the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), which ensured the timely completion of the house.
The DPM commended Nomphumelelo’s dedication in ensuring the home’s completion and promised that a kitchen and beds would be provided soon. She also reminded the community of His Majesty King Mswati III’s recent visit to the constituency, during which he pledged to build 10 houses for vulnerable families, two per chiefdom, with the homes set to be completed next year.
In her closing remarks, the DPM urged the community to remain vigilant about the protection of children from sexual abuse.
