The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Phila Buthelezi, has officially launched the 7th edition of the Imbube Marathon, set to take place on 18 October 2025.
Speaking at the launch event, the Minister described the marathon as more than just a race — calling it a celebration of dedication, endurance, and unity that mirrors the goals of his ministry.
He said the event remains a crucial opportunity for elderly citizens to stay physically active, for aspiring athletes to showcase their talents, and for communities across Eswatini to come together under one banner. He also praised the marathon’s continued drive to include participants of all ages and abilities, saying it reflects a shared national vision of inclusivity.

Chief Executive Officer of the Eswatini National Provident Fund, Futhi Tembe, revealed the official registration periods. Early bird entries will open from April 1 to June 30, 2025. Mid-registration will run from July 1 to August 30, 2025, attracting a penalty fee of E50. The final window, late registration, will be open from September 1 to October 3, 2025, with a E100 penalty.
