NOKWANE – The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) marked its 52nd anniversary today with grand celebrations at its headquarters in Nokwane, where members of the armed forces, dignitaries, and the public gathered for the annual Army Day festivities.
The event kicked off with much anticipation as Her Majesty the Indlovukazi made her regal entrance, followed shortly by His Majesty King Mswati III, who took center stage to make some exciting announcements. In a significant reveal, the King shared that the UEDF is actively recruiting this year, urging all potential recruits to begin preparations by focusing on their fitness.
Adding to the excitement, His Majesty also made promotions within the ranks of the UEDF, with five personnel advancing to the esteemed rank of Brigadier General. Among them were Mthiza Dlamini, Bongani Simelane, Comfort Bhembe, Bheki Tsabedze, and Petros Bhembe. Additionally, Ncanawe Dlamini was elevated to the rank of Major General. The promotions come as a result of retirements and mark a significant milestone in the army’s development, with several of those promoted currently honing their skills in international training programs.
The day’s celebrations featured a spectacular display of military prowess, as UEDF members showcased their precision and skill in front of Their Majesties and the gathered crowd.
