All is set for the Ingwenyama Cultural Cup, which will take place on Sunday, April 6, at Somhlolo National Stadium. The highly anticipated event, known for celebrating Eswatini’s cultural heritage, will bring together finalists from across the country in a showcase of tradition and competition.
This year’s edition features an increased prize pool of E355,000, making the contest more competitive than ever. Public Relations Officer Sandile ‘Msandi Kababa’ Nxumalo noted that excitement is building as communities gear up for the grand event. The finalists secured their spots after intense regional competitions, where teams demonstrated their cultural expertise.
The competition consists of five categories: Sibhaca, Ingadla, Lutsango, Emajaha, and Timbongi, each representing distinct elements of Eswatini’s traditions. Beyond the contest, the event serves as a platform for cultural exchange and national pride.
Regional winners have been provided with direct contacts for further coordination, ensuring they are well-prepared for the finals. Organizers see the cup as an opportunity to strengthen community bonds and safeguard traditional practices for future generations.
With increased prize money and heightened anticipation, teams are expected to deliver their best performances. Nxumalo urged participants to be fully prepared as they compete for top honors and a share of the grand prize.
