MBABANE – The Makoti Festival is set to create over 100 job opportunities, providing a much-needed economic boost to Eswatini. The festival, known for celebrating the cultural traditions of marriage and the ‘makoti’ (bride), is expected to offer employment across various sectors, from hospitality to security.

Organizers have reported an overwhelming response to the job openings, with over 1,500 applicants vying for positions just a day after the application link was shared. The festival’s director, Thembinkhosi Mthethwa, confirmed that more than 100 job opportunities would be available for locals during the event.

Positions include roles in hospitality, catering, security, and backstage support. Local artisans will also have the chance to showcase their products, adding a cultural and economic dimension to the festival.

The event, set for April 26, 2025, at the Malkerns Country Club, is expected to draw thousands of attendees. The festival’s preparation will begin on April 25, when workers will be treated to traditional meals as part of the festivities.
