Bushiris challenge extradition ruling in Malawian court

Self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary are fighting a Malawian court decision that approved their extradition to South Africa.

The couple, who face serious charges in South Africa, have no intention of returning to stand trial. Their legal team is appealing the ruling made by a Malawian court that authorized their extradition.

South Africa’s Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has criticized the Bushiris for what she describes as yet another attempt to delay proceedings. She remains opposed to their efforts to avoid facing justice.
