Immigration officer arrested over passport fraud scandal

Mbabane – Misiwe Jele-Hlatjwako, an Assistant Immigration Officer and wife to Reverend Senzo Hlatjwako, has been arrested in connection with the ongoing Home Affairs passports fraud investigation.

Appearing in the Mbabane Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon, Jele faces 14 charges related to the illegal issuance of entry permits. She is accused of issuing these permits without the necessary approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs’ entry permits committee.

The arrest follows an investigation into suspected irregularities within the immigration department, adding another layer to the growing corruption scandal surrounding the issuance of passports and permits.
