The Delegation of the European Union’s support of Eswatini companies with renewable energy initiatives will avert 48,500 tones of CO2 emissions per year.
This was said by the EU Ambassador-designate to Eswatini, Karsten Mecklenburg.
Speaking at the signing ceremony of the CREATE programme in Mountain View, Mbabane, on Monday, the EU Ambassador-designate said last year the EU Green Transformation Forum reached over 40 companies.
The EU said out of 14 companies that applied for Finance Access Advisory Support, four were approved and one pending.
The EU said the programme was a 30-month programme with a projected E490 million investment in the country’s renewable energy ambitions.
“I am happy to say that two Swazi companies were accepted for the financial intake from financing institutions,” he said.
The EU said the programme would support smallholding farmer companies, women-run companies with renewable energy and energy efficiency business ideas.
