Eswatini citizens planning to visit or transit through Ireland will soon be required to obtain a visa, effective 10 March 2025. This change, announced by the Irish government, marks a major shift in the travel requirements for Eswatini nationals.

From the given date, all travelers from Eswatini must apply for a visa before traveling to Ireland. The Irish Immigration Service Delivery website (https://www.irishimmigration.ie/) provides the necessary details for submitting applications.

In response to the new policy, Ireland has introduced transitional measures for those with urgent travel needs. Eswatini nationals facing medical emergencies, significant family events, or urgent work or business matters can apply for expedited visas by providing the required supporting documentation. Travelers in such situations must email their request to becomingvisarequired@justice.ie with the subject line “Visa Required – Emergency Travel Requested.”

The Eswatini government is currently in discussions with Irish authorities to address concerns and minimize inconvenience for its citizens. The two governments are working through diplomatic channels to find solutions that will ensure compliance with Ireland’s immigration laws while easing the impact on Eswatini nationals.

Travelers are advised to plan ahead and apply for their visas well before their intended departure dates. Regular updates will be shared via official government channels, including the Irish Immigration website and Eswatini’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For further assistance, Eswatini nationals can contact the Eswatini Embassy in Maputo, where embassy officials Vusie Dlamini and Nomvelo Mkhonta are available to offer support.
