Most SMVAF claims involve pedestrians – CEO

Lobamba – Most claims for accidents registered with SMVAF are not just for motorists but involve pedestrians.  

This was disclosed by Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Myeni during the Ingwenyama Cup semi-finals draw held at Nkhanini, Lobamba.

“We want to reiterate our plea to emaSwati to be responsible on our roads. We noted that most accidents involve pedestrians. We encourage emaSwati to come and register at the SMVAF offices in the event an accident occurs,” said Myeni.

The CEO added that the tournament was a good vehicle to drive the road safety message and pleaded for caution on the roads from the nation in order to enjoy the Ingwenyama Cup semi-finals game a healthy people.

He wished the semifinalists, as well as those in the woman competition, well during the upcoming games on March 10, which would be the inauguration of the recently announced Lutsango Holiday by His Majesty King Mswati III during Buganu Festival at Buhleni Royal Residence.

Myeni said they were also looking forward to the finals of the Ingwenyama Cup culture. He applauded all involved in ensuring the tournament continued as planned and mentioned the fact that they had witnessed the excitement of the competition.

Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman Polycarp Dlamini, thanked the remaining four teams, Mbabane Swallows, Moneni Pirates, Young Buffaloes and Royal Leopard.

“It wasn’t an easy journey. We believe we will witness two exciting matches during the semi-finals. We urge teams to be in good behavour to maintain the good spirit of the tournament,” said Dlamini.

He urged the teams to accept results as they are after the semi-finals games and said the draw was to be fair and therefore would not expect complaints. Teams eliminated since the start of the tournament were urged by the chairman to have their supporters continue supporting the remaining teams at the semi-finals.
