A man was sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting his 26 year old sister after she fell pregnant.
Mandlenkhosi Tsabedze from Eteni, was given an option to pay a fine of E7 000 after he forcefully grabbed his sister, Tengetile by the right arm and pushed her down causing her to fall which resulted in pain due to her pregnancy. The incident took place at Etani Sunday, he was charged with contravening Section 77(1) (a) of the sexual offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Art 15 of 2018 .
In her account of events leading to the assault, Tengetile who stays with her family at Etani said her older brother had come to her room to ask her as to why she got pregnant and she explained that she had not planned to but it happened and considered it a mistake.
She also mentioned that the brother questioned why the person responsible for this has not come to him and apologies for damaging her, but she told him that the baby daddy does not live in the country and that he would come when he gets the chance Mandlenkhosi said he could not ask say much but asked for a lenient sentence.
