Ezulwini – MTN Eswatini has donated mobile science kits worth E240 000 to 20 rural primary schools.
This, the gigantic telecommunication company announced today at their headquarters, Mahlalekhukhwini House at Ezulwini.
The mobile science kits are a new initiative in Eswatini and an idea that has been brought about by MTN.
The kits will be handed over to rural primary schools which are with laboratory facilities.
The portable mobile kits will be used by the schools in substitute of actual laboratories. They are fitted or equipped with laboratory apparatuses.
MTN Head of Corporate Services Sibusiso Nhleko who represented the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) they had gathered to hand over the donated science kits.
“We have noted that there is a need at primary school level to have these science kits. There are numerous primary schools where pupils proceed to secondary or high school level without of some of science equipment or tools. We are here to try and bridge that gap and this initiative forms part of our 30 Days of Y’ello Care programme,” he said.

Nhleko added that they were donating science kits valued at E240 000 which were 15 in total.
He said they wished to extend their gratitude to their supporting partners which included Ubombo Sugar Ltd among others.
He highlighted that they hoped that this initiative will grow to cover all schools in need in the kingdom as the mobile science kits were convenient.
Under Secretary (US) at the Ministry of Education Lungelo Nhlengetfwa also extended the government’s appreciation to MTN Eswatini and other supporting partners.
He said the science kits will play a significant role in assisting introduce pupils to science equipment at lower level of education.
Nhlengetfwa said his generation was not fortunate enough to get exposure to science equipment at grassroots level and consequently, this prompted most of his peers not to find interest in science yet it was a critical subject especially with the fast growing digital world.
He called upon teachers to encourage pupils at an early stage to venture into science and help do away with the negative attitude most people have that science is a complex subject.
He called upon the beneficiaries to take good care of the mobile science kits.
