Mbabane: Another Piggs Peak football official has died over the weekend.
Christopher Matambo, Piggs Peak Black Swallows finance manager died on Sunday morning while jogging near Piggs Peak correctional services.
Matambo who was the team’s finance manager met his death on the day Malanti Chiefs was burying their official in Dumisani Shongwe, who also died two weeks ago, on 12 June at Killarney Stadium during an MTN League match against Mbabane Swallows due to a heart failure.
Black Swallows Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vusi Thomo confirmed the death of their finance manager. “It is with great grief that we announce the sad news of the demise of our finance manager. It is actually a monumental loss not only to Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows but also to the whole sporting fraternity. He would be always be remembered as one of the best football administrators and his contribution to the team will be cherished forever,” Thomo said.
Thomo went on to say that in the same vein, he was not only a finance manager for the team but he also ensured that corporate governance in the strict sense was upheld within the team.
Thomo said that Matambo’s leadership qualities, as well his amicable character easily made him friendly to all of them. “May God grant his soul eternal peace and comfort his family, friends, Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows players, and all supporters of the sport in the country,” he said.
