Mbabane: The Eswatini Football Association election date have been set.
The football mother body will on June 27 hold its election, these will be during the ordinary general assembly to be held at a venue yet to be confirmed. These is according to a memo that circulated to EFA members by the organization CEO Frederick Mngomezulu. The organisation is currently headed by the Vice president in Dr Comfort Shongwe, on an interim basis following the stepping down of Adam “Bomber” Mthethwa about a month ago.
Mthethwa ended his 24 years reign in football after he was elected as the president of the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) early this month.
Six candidates in Comfort Shongwe, Peter “Samora” Simelane, Mashumi Shongwe, Nichodimus “Ace” Mashwama, Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, Sonyboy Mabuza and Johannes Ace Siboza are eligible to contest for the election.
“Notice is hereby given to all members of the EFA, in terms of Article 29(2) of the EFA statutes, that the EFA ordinary general assembly 2021 will be held on June 27, 2021at avenue and time to be communicated in due course in conformity with the EFA statutes,” reads part of the circular.
EFA members can now submit their nominations and proposal until May 27. “Members are also informed that the proposals to the ordinary general assembly must be submitted to the EFA Secretary General by May 27, 2021, at the latest, in conformity with the EFA statutes in Articles 30(1) and 32(2).” This being an Elective Ordinary General Assembly of the executive committee of the EFA, EFA members are also informed that all nominations for the position of the president, two vice president, two members of the executive committee must, in observance of Article 35(2) of the EFA statutes and the EFA Electoral Code be submitted to the General Secretary not later than May 27, 2021.
Such nominations must be made in accordance with Article 27(4) of the EFA statutes,” reads the memo. EFA will next Sunday Host its extra ordinary general assembly at the Happy Valley Hotel. The meeting will start at 11am and the meeting will be attended by the eight affiliate and each affiliate must send six members.
