Mbabane: Former Mbabane Highlanders Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Celucolo ‘Dino’ Dlamini heads the newly appointed Board of Directors for the Eswatini Sports and Recreational Council (ESRC).
He was unveiled by the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Madze ‘Harris’ Bulunga on Friday, March 05, 2021 at the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Boardroom.
Also on the new look Board are Former Eswatini Swimming Association President Walter Berger Nxumalo and Swaki Group, Executive Manager and a former international cyclist Carol Preat. Darius Dlomo who is ERSC’s Chief Executive Council (CEO) will continue working with the Board as its Secretary.
Other members are former top horse rider and Benka Lifestyle, Luxury Cottages, Director Kate Reilly. Municipal Council of Mbabane, Sports and Recreation Manager Penga Vunga and Premier Eswatini, Manager, Merchandising and Sales Operations Sthembile Khumalo.
Hilton Dlamini will be representing the Ministry of Finance’s Principal Secretary in the board while Nhlanhla Motsa will be the Sports Ministry P.S. representative.
When addressing the press the media during the unveiling, Bulunga said this Board represents the broader goal of the Ministry of achieving sustainable development across all sport; not limited to one or a few sporting codes.
“These individuals we are presenting to you today come from a wide variety of sporting backgrounds with vast experience and solid contributions across multiple codes including equestrian, cycling and swimming to name a few.”
The minister said it is therefore the Ministry’s belief that their combined expertise in sport will be the much needed catalyst to drive local sport forward. He said, through their collective focus and work, they will hit the ground running and play their role towards the achievement of wholesome sport development in Eswatini.
Bulunga said the ministry retained four members who had served one term in the previous Board (including the CEO who serves as Secretary), with hope that their presence will be of great help as the new Board accustoms itself to this environment.
In his remarks, the newly appointed Chairman Celucolo Dlamini appreciated the appointment by the Minister, pledging to work hard in taking the local sports into greater heights. Dlamini thanked the outgoing Board for their hard work which saw the local sports meeting international standards in certain aspects.
