Mbabane: National team Sihlangu semnikati will be boosted by Energade Sports drink, which will sponsor players with their products.

The Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) signed a sponsorship with Energade that will help players recover during and after matches. The sponsorship comes at the right time when the teams in the COSAFA Cup are playing every after two days.

Tamsyn Hendricks the sports and Energade Brand Manager said Energade is proud to be the Sports Hydration partner of the 2021 COSAFA Cup on its 20th anniversary. COSAFA Cup has proven to be a formidable tournament where Southern African teams test themselves and nurture young talent.” “As a brand, we understand how important it is for athletes to refuel, replenish and rehydrate for them to step up their game and perform at their best. This is why we are proud to partner with the 2021 COSAFA Cup and see to their hydration needs.

He said Energade’s sports performance range has been developed to deliver a rapidly available and effective source of carbohydrates and electrolytes to help replenish minerals lost through sports and exercise.” We are delighted to have Energade on board as a sponsor for the tournament. The players will benefit greatly from this kind of product-related partnership, and we hope this is the start of a long-term relationship with Energade and more globally recognized brand leaders across the continent.

According to COSAFA.com, the organizers have introduced several measures to assist teams with a compacted fixture list currently ongoing in Nelson Mandela Bay. The now change the format to 10 teams in two groups of five has added an additional match to the tournament for all teams and open the potential of the player’s fatigue. Now with Energade onboard teams will be able to add three players to their squads from their third game of the competition to lessen the load. All teams in the competition named an initial 20 players in their squads but could also travel with five on standby in case of COVID-19 infection. Three of those five will now be added, should they choose to do so, from the third fixture onwards in a move that has been welcomed by the participants.

The senior national team is still in the race to the semi-final after beating Zambia on Saturday 1-0, through a goal which was scored by Sandile “Saviola” Gamedze during the match. The national team now has 6 points in three games. They are now left with one game against Botswana which they need to win so that they progress to the next round.
