Mbabane: The United Nations Resident Coordinator, Ms Nathalie Ndongo-Seh, has on Thursday handed over donations from United Nations Eswatini Staff to the Deputy Prime Minister, which will be used to assist EmaSwati impacted by Cyclone Eloise.

The Cyclone hit the Kingdom of Eswatini in late January 2021, after striking Madagascar, Mozambique and later Zimbabwe and South Africa, claiming lives, including four EmaSwati, destroying homes, crops and infrastructure, and leaving thousands of people displaced across the various countries.

A media statement issued by UN Eswatini states that in an act of solidarity, the UN Resident Coordinator, Ms Nathalie Ndongo-Seh, and Chairman of the UN Staff Federation, Mr Victor Nkambule, handed over donations to the Deputy Prime Minister and Acting PM, from UN staff, to assist Emaswati affected by Storm Eloise.

Donations included food and hygiene items, clothes, toiletries, masks and more. Programme Communications and Advocacy officer for UN Eswatini Sibusiso Mngadi said the Deputy Prime Ministers office will distribute the items to EmaSwati accordingly.
