Mbabane: Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Prince Lonkhokhelo has been airlifted to South African hospital.

Sources close to the matter who commented on condition of anonymity said the Prince was in critical condition hence today (Tuesday) had to be rushed to South Africa. The Prince was taken by a helicopter near Ngwenya Border Post on Tuesday afternoon. He was actually driven by an ambulance to the boarder gate but then upon reaching the boarder the helicopter emerged and paramedics were seen taking him to the helicopter which flee heading to SA.

The Prince’s sickness started making rounds on social media since the past two weeks. However, the cause of his illness could not be established as there had been allegations that he contracted COVID-19.

Witnesses who were at the Ngwenya during that moment confirmed seeing a helicopter that airlifted the Prince from the ambulances.

The source told this publication that a formal confirmation of the matter could be sought from Eludzidzini Governor Indvuna Lusendvo Fakudze as he is the one who speaks on matters relating to Princes and Princess.

When sought for comment Indvuna Lusendvo Fakudze neither denied nor confirmed the matter. Fakudze said nothing had not been reported to him as he was not Eludzidzini but rather he was at his home.

Prince Lonkhokhelo is a member of the Resource Mobilization committee which was tasked to mobilise funds to be used in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Prince is the second public figure to be airlifted to South Africa after the late Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini who was confirmed to have COVID-19. Unfortunately, Dlamini succumbed to the disease and he was laid to rest on December 26.
