MBABANE– With only 10 days left before the highly anticipated Eswatini Kota Festival, organisers are encouraging patrons to pack their camp chairs and picnic blankets as they prepare for a day of good food, great music and unforgettable memories.
Scheduled for October 24 at Malkerns Country Club, the festival promises to bring together food lovers, music enthusiasts and families for a celebration of entertainment, culture and the much-loved kota street food.
Running from 10am until late, the event is designed to offer more than just live music, with organisers encouraging attendees to create their own comfortable spaces where they can relax, enjoy their meals and soak up the festival atmosphere with friends and family.
The invitation to bring camp chairs and picnic blankets adds a relaxed, picnic-style experience to the festivities, allowing patrons to settle in comfortably as they enjoy the day’s activities.
Food will be one of the major attractions, with vendors expected to serve different kota flavours inspired by Eswatini and South Africa. The festival celebrates the popular South African street food, traditionally made using a hollowed-out quarter loaf of bread filled with a variety of ingredients.
Music lovers will also have plenty to look forward to, with a star-studded line-up featuring Ringo Madlingozi, Vusi Nova, Amanda Black, Young Stunna, MÖRDA, Emtee, Mlindo The Vocalist and Aymos, alongside Eswatini artists Young Zesh and Xolwa.
Keeping the energy high throughout the day will be MCs Somizi Mhlongo, Napo Modise and Asa D, who are expected to add entertainment and excitement to the experience.
Families are also catered for, with a dedicated children’s entertainment area making the festival suitable for patrons of different ages.
The official dress code is all white with a touch of yellow, giving attendees an opportunity to showcase their style while embracing the festival spirit.
Organisers have confirmed that camp chairs and empty cooler boxes are allowed. However, outside food, drinks, water and snacks are prohibited, and no filled cooler boxes will be permitted.
Phase 1 tickets are priced at E200 for adults, E150 for students, E110 for children and E800 for VIP admission. The VIP package includes a kota, seating, free Wi-Fi and parking.
Importantly, no tickets will be sold at the gate, so patrons are encouraged to secure their tickets in advance.
