Mbabane – A student representative council (SRC) president accused of harassing and intimidating an administrator at EMRC College has been granted E500 bail by the Mbabane Magistrate’s Court.
Nkhosenhle Dlamini, 25, of Sithobelweni, appeared before Magistrate C. Thwala, charged with harassment and intimidation.
The charge sheet alleges that on October 5, 2026, in the Mbabane area, Dlamini unlawfully and intentionally harassed and intimidated Nongcebo Simelane, an administrator at EMRC College.
It is alleged that students, who had not received their student allowances, blocked Simelane’s car and forcefully opened the driver’s door in an attempt to compel her, in her capacity as an administrator, to release their allowances.
During the court proceedings, the Crown applied for a trial date of January 25, 2027, and requested that Dlamini be remanded in custody.
However, his defence counsel, Sibusiso Shongwe, applied for bail, arguing that Dlamini had been advocating for the students’ interests in his capacity as SRC president. The defence also told the court that he had complied with the police.
The court granted Dlamini bail of E500, subject to conditions that he does not interfere with Crown witnesses, does not commit another offence while on bail and attends court for all remands and the trial.
He is expected to return to court on January 25, 2027, for trial if he pays the bail amount. The matter remains pending before the court.
