Mbabane – A 29-year-old man from Maliyaduma has been arrested and charged with the murder of his friend following a stabbing incident at the suspect’s homestead.
Police said the deceased, also aged 29 and from the same area, was stabbed once in the chest at about 1:30pm on September 29, 2026.
According to police, the two men were friends who spent considerable time together and were also allegedly involved in cultivating dagga.
On the day of the incident, the two were allegedly drinking alcohol in a kitchen at the suspect’s homestead when an argument broke out.
Police allege that the suspect then took a knife and stabbed his friend once in the chest.
The deceased sustained serious injuries and died following the stabbing.
Police investigations have further established that the two men had a history of fighting while under the influence of alcohol.
However, the circumstances that led to the argument on the day of the incident are yet to be established.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Manzini Magistrate’s Court today to face the murder charge.
