A new partnership between B-well and the Eswatini Cancer Network is set to help expand cancer education, screening, patient support and community care across Eswatini.
The Eswatini Cancer Network (ECAN) has gained a meaningful new ally in its ongoing fight against cancer, with B-well joining the organisation to help broaden awareness, support prevention and improve access to care. B-well’s pure canola oil carries the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) Smart Choice Seal, reinforcing the brand’s long-standing commitment to healthier lifestyle choices.
As a national non-profit organisation, ECAN is dedicated to reducing the burden of cancer through prevention, early detection, patient support, advocacy and public education. Its work reaches communities across Eswatini, helping more people access the information, screening, treatment pathways and care they need.
According to statistics drawn from World Population Review figures for 2026, the country records the highest cervical cancer burden in the world, with an incidence rate of 57.8 per 100 000 women.
According to Ms. Tengetile Kubheka, the Executive Director at ECAN, the organisation reaches thousands of EmaSwati each year through cancer awareness campaigns, screening programmes and patient support services. In 2025 alone, ECAN reached more than 30 440 people with cancer awareness and education messages.
“ECAN provides comprehensive support to nearly 300 cancer patients and their families through psychosocial services, counselling, transport assistance, and home and hospital visits. It also distributes care hampers to help ease the financial and emotional burden faced by individuals undergoing cancer treatment and recovery,” notes Kubheka.
The organisation has also successfully advocated for the expansion of breast and cervical cancer screening services within public health facilities. This includes supporting the training of healthcare workers, equipping 14 facilities to provide cervical cancer screening services and strengthening community cancer education through existing Community structures. The organization played a key role in advocating for the establishment of the country’s first chemotherapy unit at Mbabane Government Hospital and seeing the Government of Eswatini as well as the Private sector taking lead in decentralizing the Oncology services is a great milestone towards improving the quality of life for Emaswati which speaks to bringing services closer to them.
A partnership with purpose
Morne Botes, Commercial Director at Southern Oil (Pty) Ltd, the 30+ year legacy business behind the B-well brand, explains that the partnership will support ECAN’s education drive and community-based outreaches which includes free cancer screening initiatives, broader public awareness drives and support to cancer survivors.
