Mbabane- Swazi Empowerment Limited (SEL) has declared a final dividend of E15.35 million for the financial year, rewarding shareholders with a payout of 83 cents per ordinary share as the investment holding company continues to generate strong returns from its strategic investments.
The company announced on this week that the dividend will be paid to ordinary shareholders whose names appear in the company’s share register at the close of business on August 3, 2026, with payments expected to be made on or before August 12.
The latest declaration comes as SEL maintains a strong financial position, supported largely by dividend income from its investments in the telecommunications and banking sectors.
In a notice to shareholders, the company said statutory tax deductions would apply to the dividend payments. Local shareholders will be subject to normal tax on dividends, while non-resident shareholders will have withholding tax deducted in accordance with applicable tax legislation.
The dividend declaration reflects SEL’s continued ability to generate cash from its investment portfolio despite prevailing economic conditions.
Founded in July 1998 and listed on the Eswatini Stock Exchange (ESE) since June 2004 under the ticker SEL, the company has established itself as one of the country’s leading investment holding firms with interests in some of Eswatini’s largest corporate entities.
Its portfolio includes a 19 per cent shareholding in Swazi MTN Limited and a 4.92 per cent stake in First National Bank of Eswatini, investments that continue to underpin the company’s earnings performance.
The Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) remains the company’s largest shareholder, controlling about 78.26 per cent of SEL’s issued share capital.
The dividend announcement follows a strong financial performance by the company, whose latest audited results showed revenue of E34.5 million, driven primarily by dividend income from investee companies.
Operating profit stood at E31.88 million, reflecting the company’s low-cost investment model and resilient balance sheet.
On the Eswatini Stock Exchange, SEL shares were trading at E37.00, giving the company a market capitalisation of approximately E684.5 million.
The investment company has maintained its strategy of maximizing returns from its telecommunications and financial services investments while deploying excess cash into interest-bearing corporate debt instruments and bank placements to enhance shareholder value and ensure sustainable long-term growth.
