Nsingizini Hotspurs midfielder Nkosingphile ‘Skomota’ Shongwe emerged as the biggest winner at the club’s End of Season Awards after claiming three major honours and walking away with E24 000 in prize money during a colourful ceremony held at the Nsingizini Community Hall.
Shongwe dominated the day, securing the Most Improved Player of the Season award, the Players’ Player of the Season award, and the prestigious Player of the Season title. His haul of accolades reflected a standout campaign in which he consistently delivered strong performances and earned the admiration of both teammates and supporters.
The awards he collected were accompanied by cash prizes, with E7 000 for Most Improved Player, E7 000 for Players’ Player of the Season, and E10 000 for the top individual award, bringing his total earnings for the night to E24 000.
The ceremony drew a lively crowd of supporters, club officials, sponsors and players, who filled the venue in celebration of what was widely described as a successful season for the club. The atmosphere was electric, with fans singing, dancing and applauding players as awards were presented.
Several other players were also recognised for their contributions throughout the campaign. Luyanda Nhlengetfwa was named Young Player of the Season and received E5 000 for his impressive development and performances. Goalkeeper Sibusiso Dlamini was rewarded for his consistency with the Goalkeeper of the Season award and E7 000.
Vuyo Macina was honoured as Sportsman of the Season, also receiving E7 000 for his discipline and exemplary conduct both on and off the field. Striker Senzo Ndlovu was crowned Golden Boot winner after finishing as the club’s top scorer, earning E7 000 for his efforts in front of goal.
Club leadership also featured prominently in the celebrations, with president Derrick Shiba receiving special recognition from the club and supporters. In a memorable moment, fans joined him on stage during the presentation, highlighting the strong bond between the club’s leadership and its supporters.
The annual awards ceremony continues to serve as an important platform for recognising excellence, commitment and progress within the squad while motivating players ahead of the new season.
