Mbabane– The Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Savannah Maziya, has appointed Thulani Fakudze as the new Managing Director of the Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC), while calling for stronger ethical leadership and institutional discipline within public service entities.
Fakudze joins EPTC after serving as Technical Director at the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM), bringing experience in telecommunications regulation and sector development.
Announcing the appointment, Maziya said public institutions require leadership rooted in honesty, integrity, professionalism and mutual respect, noting that organisational culture plays a central role in service delivery and institutional stability.
She said leadership should focus on building cohesive teams where employees support each other and uphold ethical conduct, adding that respect within institutions is essential to sustaining effective public service.
Maziya also cautioned against abuse of positions of authority, saying decisions in public institutions must always comply with legal frameworks and established procedures rather than personal influence or informal arrangements.
She further stressed the need for leaders to focus on growing institutions into self-sustaining entities capable of contributing to national development, particularly at a time when government revenue pressures are increasing due to economic constraints affecting key sectors.
According to Maziya, public sector leadership must prioritise accountability and professionalism to ensure that institutions remain functional, resilient and capable of delivering services to citizens without compromise.
She said the appointment of senior executives should be guided by competence and the ability to advance institutional performance, rather than favour or informal considerations.
Fakudze’s appointment comes as EPTC continues efforts to modernise and expand its telecommunications and postal services in line with national digital transformation priorities.
