Hlathikhulu– The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has appointed Kenneth S. Fakudze as the temporary Town Clerk for the Hlathikhulu Town Board to oversee the restoration of governance systems within the municipality.
The appointment, effective April 27, 2026, is for a period not exceeding 12 months. Fakudze, who was formally welcomed by Councillors today, assumed his duties with immediate effect.
The Ministry made the selection in accordance with the Urban Government Act of 1969 and the Urban Government Staff Regulations. Fakudze moves to the position with significant experience in local government, having previously served two terms as the Town Clerk for the Mankayane Town Board.
His mandate specifically focuses on rebuilding stakeholder confidence and implementing recommendations from a recent Commission of Inquiry report into the board’s operations. He is also tasked with stabilizing institutional management and governance protocols that had previously been under scrutiny.
Fakudze holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a background in municipal governance and institutional management.
